Since the cyclone itself has no moving parts, its sorting process completely relies on the flexible cooperation of its own structural parameters and external operating parameters to achieve the best sorting accuracy, which is a prominent feature that cyclone coal preparation is completely different from other coal preparation methods.

How it works

In the sorting process of the heavy media cyclone, the material and suspension are fed into the cyclone at a certain pressure along the tangential direction to form a strong vortex; The liquid flow forms a descending outer spiral flow along the inner wall of the cyclone from the inlet port; forms a rising inner spiral near the axis of the cyclone; Air is sucked in due to the negative pressure of the inner spiral flow, forming an air column in the axis of the cyclone; The refined coal in the feed flows upward with the inner spiral and is discharged from the overflow port, and the gangue flows down with the outer spiral and discharges from the bottom flow port. The formation mechanism of the air column is: because the bottom flow pipe and the overflow pipe are directly connected with the atmosphere, the two-phase flow entering the cyclone moves with a strong spiral vortex, when the tangent velocity increases to the critical speed, each outlet of the cyclone produces a certain resistance, forming an internal rotating flow field, causing axial negative pressure, air enters the cyclone from the overflow pipe and the bottom flow pipe, and gradually develops into a penetrating air column under the joint action of axial negative pressure drive and fluid convection transmission. When the particle density is greater than the suspension density, the resultant force of the particles at the radius r in the suspension is positive, and the particles are thrown outward spiral flow; Otherwise, the particles are thrown inward spiral flow; Thus, particles with a density greater than the medium and particles with a density less than the medium are separated. In the cyclone, the centrifugal force is several times to dozens of times greater than the gravity, which greatly speeds up the sorting speed and improves the sorting effect.
